Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi reiterated that Kashmir is a disputed territory internationally, rejecting India’s recent statements as attempts to divert attention from the situation in occupied Kashmir.

The spokesperson emphasized that the issue of Kashmir is clearly defined under UN Security Council resolutions, which guarantee the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people. Indian statements on this matter hold no legal or political justification.

Meanwhile, Pakistani citizens held by pirates in Somalia have been in captivity for around 50 days. The government is making all possible diplomatic and institutional efforts for their safe recovery, although progress remains limited due to the complexity of the situation.

The hostages are aboard a cargo vessel along with crew members from other countries. Pakistan is in continuous contact with Somali authorities, local stakeholders, and the ship’s owner to ensure their safe and early release.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had a telephone conversation with the Somali Foreign Minister two days earlier, urging improvement in the situation of all hostages and stressing urgent action.

The Somali ambassador was also summoned in Islamabad to convey Pakistan’s concerns. Inter-ministerial meetings are being held at the Foreign Office to ensure coordinated efforts.
