Pasban Democratic Party Chairman Altaf Shakur has warned of a serious threat to Pakistan’s future due to rising food insecurity and severe water scarcity. At a party meeting, he stated that the country is rapidly heading towards acute water shortage with per capita water availability declining at a dangerous pace.

Shakur highlighted falling groundwater table, inefficiencies in irrigation system, and negligible water storage capacity as major concerns. He stressed that economic stability and defence capabilities are important but neglecting food and water security is unacceptable for any nation.

Despite Pakistan being an agricultural country, the country faces rising food inflation, declining crop yields, and worsening public hardship – issues attributed to policy failures and weak governance by Shakur.
