British envoy’s remarks on Afghanistan rejected
Islamabad has strongly responded to recent comments made by the British Special Representative for Afghanistan. The Foreign Ministry stated these remarks were one-sided and did not reflect ground realities or the wider security context.
The ministry noted a social media post from the British envoy regarding developments in the border region but said the observations do not accurately represent the situation on the ground. It highlighted that cross-border aggression and infiltration attempts have continued despite Pakistan’s March 2026 goodwill gesture to pause operations.
Since the temporary halt, Islamabad stated its actions have been restrained yet targeted, focusing on Taliban positions and militant infrastructure. Officials maintained these actions were defensive in nature, aimed at preventing further incursions rather than escalating tensions.
Pakistan dismissed Afghan assertions regarding civilian casualties caused by Pakistani actions as lacking evidential credibility. It urged the international community to assess the situation through an objective lens, considering Pakistan’s role in counter-terrorism efforts and its population’s sacrifices.
