Pakistan Hosts Senior Officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt for High-Level Talks
Islamabad witnessed significant diplomatic development on Tuesday as Pakistan hosted senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt. The high-level discussions aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and aligning strategies on key global issues.
The meeting marked the inaugural Senior Officials’ Meeting of the four countries, signalling a renewed push towards coordinated diplomatic engagement. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held separate meetings with the visiting delegations including Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Musa Kulaklikaya, Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister Nazih El Naggari, and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Prince Dr Abdullah bin Khalid.
The discussions reflected growing convergence among the four nations on a range of regional and international matters. Dar underscored the longstanding ‘brotherly’ ties shared between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt, noting that alignment of views across multiple fronts presents an opportunity to formalise cooperation. He called for development of structured framework to advance collective objectives centred on peace, economic growth and regional stability.
The meeting followed an earlier consultative session held on 29th March at the foreign ministers’ level, indicating continuity in diplomatic engagement. The current round of talks was aimed at building on previous discussions and refining a joint approach to regional cooperation.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Foreign Secretary and spokesperson Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan while the visiting delegations were headed by their respective senior representatives. The presence of high-ranking officials highlighted importance attached to evolving four-nation dialogue.
Participants also called on Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, where they exchanged views on regional situation and explored avenues to strengthen diplomatic coordination. The discussions placed emphasis on collaborative responses to shared challenges and opportunities for economic partnership.
The outcome of the Islamabad consultations is expected to feed into upcoming foreign ministers’ meeting scheduled to take place on 17 April in Antalya, on sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
