Pakistan has signed a $330 million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Integrated Social Protection Development Program (ISPDP). The funding will support the expansion of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), aiming to strengthen social protection systems across the country.
The agreement was signed by Secretary Economic Affairs Dr. Kazim Niaz and ADB Country Director Emma Fan.
Dr. Niaz highlighted the importance of concessional financing in enhancing access to education and healthcare for vulnerable groups, especially women, adolescent girls, and children from low-income families.
Emma Fan reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to supporting Pakistan in strengthening its social safety nets. She emphasized that the additional funding would promote inclusive growth, poverty alleviation, and improved healthcare access.
