Pakistan Signs MoU with Saudi & Local Partners for Karachi Port Waterfront Project

Pakistan has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi and local partners for a maritime business district on Karachi Port Trust’s waterfront land. The MoU was signed by KPT, Saudi Business Council–NAJD Gateway Holding Company, Arif Habib Dolmen REIT Management Limited, and the Pakistan Corporate Consortium.

The proposed project will be built on 140 acres of KPT land at MT Khan Road, with plans to transform it into a major commercial and maritime hub.

Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said this collaboration is transformative, aiming to unlock Karachi Port Trust’s waterfront assets potential and position Pakistan as a regional hub for maritime commerce and investment.

Chaudhry also noted that all regulatory requirements under Pakistani law would be met before the project proceeds. The Saudi delegation showed interest in broader maritime sector cooperation, including port infrastructure and related projects. This visit is part of Islamabad and Riyadh’s efforts to deepen economic ties and explore investment opportunities in ports, logistics, infrastructure, and trade facilitation.
