Pakistan to Join Russia’s SPIEF 2026
A high-level Pakistani delegation is set to participate in the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026), one of Russia’s largest and most influential economic gatherings. The forum, running from June 3-6, will bring together government officials, business leaders, investors and economic policymakers from over 130 countries.
Pakistan’s delegation, led by Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar, will include Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi. The forum’s agenda covers global trade, energy security, investment, digital technology, artificial intelligence, industrial development, transport infrastructure, food security and international economic cooperation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to address the main plenary session, alongside participation from ministers, investors, corporate executives and representatives of international organisations. Pakistan’s participation in SPIEF 2026 is seen as an opportunity to strengthen economic ties with Moscow, explore greater cooperation in energy, petroleum, industry, trade and investment sectors.
Pakistan’s focus on attracting foreign investment into energy, minerals, infrastructure and manufacturing aligns with its goal of expanding economic partnerships globally. Analysts believe that participation in international forums like SPIEF offers Pakistan direct access to Russian stakeholders and investors from multiple countries, potentially supporting investment growth, export expansion and broader economic partnerships.
