Bulawayo, 31 January 2026: Pakistan U19 will aim to repeat their heroics from the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup when they face India U19 in the Super Six fixture of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup at the Queens Sports Club on Sunday. The match is set to begin at 9:30 AM local time, with a toss scheduled for 9 AM.
Pakistan last beat India by 191 runs in the final of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup held at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai on December 21. Pakistan were led by Sameer Minhas’ century and Ali Raza’s four-wicket haul.
Ahead of Sunday’s encounter, Pakistan completed training sessions at the Queens Sports Club on Saturday where players participated in fielding drills and net sessions under the guidance of coaching staff led by head coach Shahid Anwar.
Pakistan currently holds fourth place in Group 2 with four points. To qualify for the semi-finals, they need to win convincingly against India. England has already earned a semi-final berth with eight points. Afghanistan and Australia have qualified from Group 1.
In previous encounters at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, both sides won five games each. Outside the ICC event, Pakistan U19 triumphed four times in their last five matches against India U19, while India beat them once.
At a training session concluded on Saturday, captain Farhan Yousaf and batter Sameer Minhas spoke about the upcoming match.
Farhan Yousaf commented:
“Our preparations have been good. Today’s net session was enjoyable and productive. In recent games, I’ve tried to play positive cricket, learned from my mistakes and carried those positives forward into future matches. The morale of the squad is very high—both for this game and the last few contests. We’re confident in putting in a strong performance.”
Sameer Minhas added:
“We played a scenario-based match yesterday on a challenging surface which helped us understand how to survive, score runs, and bowl effectively under pressure. Today’s training sessions at Queens Sports Club included focused net practice, fielding drills, and games. The atmosphere within the team is very positive. We’ve been performing well in recent matches and are looking forward to continuing this momentum into our next game.”
