British High Commissioner Jane Marriott affirmed that economic ties between Pakistan and the UK are strong. The statement came after a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and British Ambassador Jonathan Powell.
Marriott highlighted Britain as Pakistan’s top European trading partner, with over 200 British firms investing more than Rs910 billion in the country. The UK is also Pakistan’s third-largest export market.
The ambassador noted that bilateral trade has reached $6 billion, its highest level ever. She emphasized that British companies are driving job creation, technology transfer, tax revenues, and export growth in Pakistan.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, security, and development. Powell expressed strong interest in supporting Pakistan’s reform agenda across various sectors.
