Pakistan urges Iranians to register for swift repatriation from Pakistan

Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, called on Pakistani nationals still in the country to register with the embassy immediately for repatriation following mounting logistical challenges. In a post on X, he stated that securing transportation has become increasingly difficult amid ongoing conflict in the region. “It is getting very hard to find buses due to ongoing challenges here,” Tipu warned. He urged all those who wish to return home under the ambassador’s cooperation.

The call comes as tensions escalate across the Middle East with US and Israeli strikes against Iran, coupled with Iranian attacks on US military bases in the region. On February 28, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level review meeting addressing the overall security situation following these attacks. He directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take all necessary steps for the safe repatriation of stranded Pakistanis.

Many Pakistani nationals, including students, pilgrims, tourists, and traders, have already returned home through border crossings in Balochistan. Meanwhile, Pakistani missions in Saudi Arabia launched round-the-clock helplines and deployed teams at major airports to assist travelers as the conflict extends into the wider Gulf region.

Iran has continued its missile strikes against Israel under the leadership of the newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. This escalation further complicates repatriation efforts, with Pakistani missions in Iran struggling to navigate these challenging circumstances.
