Pakistan gears up for its presidential election scheduled for March 9, as reported by Headline PK, citing sources at the election commission.

The Election Commission of Pakistan is expected to announce the election schedule today.

The presidential election will precede the Senate’s election and will take place after the formation of governments in the center and provinces, following the oath-taking of assemblies.

Sources indicate that Asif Ali Zardari will be the presidential candidate backed by coalition partners including the PML-N, People’s Party, and other allies.

The election of the 14th President of Pakistan is set to occur on March 9, with the PPP and PML-N reaching an agreement on Zardari’s candidacy.

The President of Pakistan is indirectly elected by the Electoral College of Pakistan, comprising a joint sitting of the Senate, National Assembly, and Provincial Assemblies.
