Pakistan’s Senate passed a unanimous resolution in response to Israel’s recent statements, reiterating strong opposition and reaffirming support for Palestinian self-determination. The resolution condemned Israel’s actions in Palestine and underscored the importance of regional stability and international law.
ISLAMABAD (APP) – In its latest move, Pakistan’s Senate today passed a landmark resolution rejecting Israel’s recent assertions, with all parties agreeing to its provisions. Moved by Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan on behalf of all parties, the resolution highlighted deep concerns regarding statements perceived as undermining regional and international norms.
The document took strong exception to statements viewed as detrimental to peace and stability in the region. It criticized Israel’s policies and actions, particularly those that disregard international law, the UN Charter, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion.
The Senate unequivocally rejected any attempts to alter the legal or historical status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including holy sites. It also condemned settlement expansion and displacement of Palestinians in defiance of these measures.
It expressed deep dismay at Israel’s reported announcement recognizing Somaliland’s independence, describing it as inconsistent with international principles. The Senate called on the international community to ensure accountability and end impunity for actions violating international humanitarian and human rights laws.
The resolution demanded full Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories, demanding increased, sustained, and unimpeded humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, especially in Gaza. It emphasized the need for early recovery and reconstruction efforts in these areas.
Most significantly, the Senate reaffirmed its unwavering support for an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. This resolution marks Pakistan’s strong stance against Israeli actions that threaten regional stability and international peace.
