Pervez Khattak, leader of the breakaway faction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), PTI-Parliamentarians, has announced his resignation from his party position, stating that he is “taking a break” from politics for the time being.

This decision follows the virtual elimination of his party from Pakistan’s political landscape, failing to secure a single seat.

During campaigning, Khattak had confidently asserted that he would become the next chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and that PTI-backed independents would also join forces with him after emerging victorious.

Despite his optimism, Khattak’s two sons and a son-in-law, who were contesting all seven seats in Nowshera, were unable to secure a victory in any of them.
