The Board of Directors of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has granted in-principle approval for a 15% salary increase for its employees, marking the first pay revision in four years.

A PIA spokesperson confirmed that the raise is intended to align salaries with inflation, which has significantly impacted employees since the last hike in 2019.

The decision comes amid concerns over employee retention, as PIA’s workforce has steadily declined, now standing at fewer than 7,000. The salary revision had been pending for a long time, with repeated requests made to the Privatization Commission and financial advisers.

The spokesperson added that the move is aimed at preventing further talent drain and ensuring the airline maintains an experienced workforce as it navigates its restructuring phase.
