The Pakistani government has launched a new plan for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), with the airline likely to be sold to either Qatar or Abu Dhabi under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement.

The government is now accepting expressions of interest, with applications due by November 30.

Following the cancellation of the Blue World Consortium’s bid, which had proposed 10 billion rupees to acquire PIA shares, the government has revised its approach, considering foreign government ownership as a solution.

Reports suggest that several pre-agreed conditions will be part of the sale to Qatar or Abu Dhabi.
