PM Shehbaz Calls for Stronger National Tariff Commission to Boost Industry and Investment

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of the National Tariff Commission’s active performance in boosting domestic industry and investment following its institutional restructuring. He called for a review of global best practices to align the commission’s restructuring and performance with international standards.

During a review meeting, the chairman briefed participants on legal, administrative, and financial reforms. The PM directed the commission to adopt innovation through information technology, artificial intelligence, and other modern methods, aiming to improve efficiency by simplifying legal complexities in the Appellate Tribunal.

He also emphasized the need for full digitization of the commission’s activities to ensure transparency and quality. Delays in cases at the National Tariff Commission were deemed “not tolerable under any circumstances.”
