Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised China as a model for the world during a ceremony in Beijing marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The event was attended by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted China’s remarkable development over the past 75 years, noting its global example of progress and economic success. He also mentioned China’s achievements in lifting millions out of poverty under President Xi Jinping.
The prime minister recalled China’s support to Pakistan during the devastating floods of 2010 and appreciated Beijing’s continued cooperation in promoting regional peace, development, and stability. Shehbaz Sharif noted that President Xi believes in dialogue for resolving conflicts, reflecting a strong commitment to peace.
He lauded the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China, stating it is difficult to find similar bilateral ties globally. The prime minister also emphasized that China’s journey of sustained economic progress offers valuable lessons for other developing nations, particularly in overcoming poverty and unemployment through perseverance and consistent effort.
Shehbaz Sharif described Pakistan and China as “one soul in two bodies,” emphasizing the depth of their friendship and shared aspirations. He added that despite China’s strong military and economic position, its leadership continues to promote peace, making President Xi one of the most respected global figures.
The prime minister expressed hope for further strengthening of bilateral relations, stating both countries should continue building on their historic partnership and creating new opportunities for future generations.
