PM Shehbaz Reinforces Child Health Commitment in UNICEF Meeting

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted his government’s dedication to safeguarding children’s health during a meeting with a delegation from the Partnership for Lead Free Future and UNICEF at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The PM emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating polio, stating that exposure to lead posed serious risks to children’s physical and mental development. He assured all necessary steps would be taken to mitigate these impacts.

The meeting included representatives from the Partnership for Lead Free Future Secretariat Director Abdullah Fadil, UNICEF Pakistan Representative Pernille Ironside, Stanford University experts Jenna Forsyth and Thomas Hird, as well as Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mustafa Kamal, and Ayesha Raza Farooq.

The delegation shared findings from their recent survey on lead exposure areas in Pakistan, stressing the need for increased public awareness about its harmful effects. They also commended the government’s initiatives in health, education, youth development, and information technology as crucial steps towards sustainable national progress.
