Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of faith, patience, perseverance, sacrifice, and commitment to truth during a recent speech commemorating Youm-e-Ashura. The Ashura day marks the seventh-century martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his family in the Battle of Karbala.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz highlighted that the sacrifices made by Imam Hussain and his companions have given Youm-e-Ashura a unique significance in Islamic history. He also stressed that adherence to principles and values forms the foundation of a dignified and civilized society.

PM Shehbaz also appealed to religious scholars, spiritual leaders, speakers, media, and the younger generation to highlight the true message of Ashura and promote inter-sect harmony. He emphasized the need to protect the rights of weaker sections of society and contribute towards building a strong, united, and peaceful nation.

The Prime Minister concluded his message by praying for peace and stability worldwide and for unity, harmony, and blessings for the entire Muslim Ummah.
