As the anticipation builds for Eidul Azha in Pakistan, slated to be observed on Monday, June 17, 2024, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) provides insights into the celestial calendar, with the Climate Data Processing Centre signaling a potential moon sighting on Friday, June 7, 2024.

According to PMD officials, the moon’s birth is scheduled for June 6 at 5:38 PM, with sunset anticipated at 7:20 PM and moonset at 8:30 PM. In Karachi, the moon will be 26 hours and 8 minutes old at sunset, offering a visibility window of 72 minutes post-sunset, meeting the requisite criteria for moon sighting.

In addition to celestial observations, the meteorological department forecasts hot weather for Eidul Azha, setting the tone for the festive period.

In anticipation of the occasion, bustling cattle markets in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Karachi witness the arrival of thousands of sacrificial animals, including cows, bulls, and goats. Despite more than two weeks remaining until Eidul Azha, eager buyers are already flocking to secure their sacrificial animals.
