Nintendo is set to bring back two classic Pokémon titles, FireRed and LeafGreen, for digital release on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 as part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The games will debut digitally immediately following the Pokémon Presents broadcast on February 27, 2026.

The original Kanto adventures of Red and Green have been fully remastered and enhanced for modern systems, offering a fresh take on these beloved titles. Featuring an updated visual aesthetic, wireless connectivity enhancements, and new content, players will experience nostalgia combined with cutting-edge features reminiscent of the Game Boy Advance games. Both FireRed and LeafGreen are available as download-only titles priced at $19.99 USD for Switch and £16.99 GBP for Switch 2.

Nintendo has also revealed that Pokémon HOME support is planned for these digital releases, though connectivity will be delayed until a future update. This feature promises to allow players to transfer their captured Pokémon into the virtual home environment, enhancing game replayability.

Additionally, both titles include an innovative wireless club system, enabling trainers to engage in online battles and trades with other gamers via local multiplayer formats. The Sevii Islands area—an expansive post-game region comprising seven distinct islands—will be included for those players interested in exploring further adventures after defeating the Elite Four.

For collectors and enthusiasts, a premium version of these games is set to release through Pokémon Centre Online. This edition features a special download card enclosed within a recreated Game Boy Advance-style box, complemented by themed display items that evoke the original releases’ aesthetic.

Nintendo has already showcased its commitment to celebrating the 30th anniversary with these digital restatements, which are designed to appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers interested in reliving classic gaming experiences. As we approach February 27, anticipation is building for this anticipated update to a beloved part of video game history.
