This trip marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Austria.

During his time in Austria, Mr Sharif will hold bilateral talks with Austrian counterparts to review the state of their existing relationships. Pakistan and Austria have enjoyed cordial relations built on shared values including dialogue, cooperation, adherence to principles outlined in the UN Charter, and respect for international law. This visit is significant as it represents the first by a Pakistani Prime Minister since Nawaz Sharif’s 1992 trip, which occurred over three decades ago.

The upcoming meeting between Mr Sharif and Chancellor Stocker promises insights into potential areas of cooperation and new avenues for partnership in trade, technology, education, and cultural exchanges. This visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its diplomatic engagement with Austria and fostering mutual growth.
