Prince William recently expressed his excitement over the announcement that India will host The Earthshot Prize 2026. Kensington Palace shared a video message directly from Prince William on social media, confirming that the sixth edition of the event will take place in Mumbai this November.

In his statement, Prince William noted, “We must continue to look to the future with urgency and optimism, which is why I am delighted that Mumbai will host The Earthshot Prize 2026.” This news follows previous editions held in cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Singapore, Boston, and London.

The Earthshot Prize was established by Prince William himself, aiming to inspire a decade of urgent environmental action. The Mumbai celebration promises to bring together leaders from the environmental and business sectors, investors, philanthropists, and other key figures committed to fostering change.

The event’s crowning moment will be when five innovative solutions that have significantly impacted their respective areas are honored with £1 million each in grants. This year marks the first time The Earthshot Prize has been held in a country outside of Europe or North America, highlighting Brazil’s significant role on the global climate stage and setting it apart as a historic event.

Last year’s Awards Night, which took place during the prestigious Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was a star-studded occasion. There, five Earthshot Prize winners from 2025 were announced, marking a momentous milestone for the initiative.
