The official trip was intended to build upon previous interactions between William and Saudi Arabia; notably, their 2018 meeting where Prince Charles hosted Crown Prince bin Salman for a dinner at Clarence House in London. Then-Queen Elizabeth held a separate lunch with the royal during this visit.
