PTA Investigates Internet Disruption in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated an investigation into reports of internet disruptions in specific regions of the country, particularly in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Despite these localized issues, the PTA assured the public that the overall state of internet access nationwide is normal.

On Sunday, widespread disruptions were observed on popular social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter), with the most significant impact reported after 7:00 pm. Users encountered slow internet speeds, prompting some to resort to using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to alleviate the issue.

The cause of the internet outage remains unclear, and the PTA is actively working to determine the root of the problem. Notably, social media users have speculated that the disruption may be linked to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) virtual meeting broadcasted on social media platforms, although this remains unconfirmed.

As the investigation unfolds, users are advised to stay tuned for updates from the PTA regarding the resolution of the issue and any preventive measures that may be implemented to ensure stable internet connectivity nationwide.
