The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a new initiative to register IP addresses and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), aiming to provide seamless internet access for freelancers, businesses, and foreign embassies in the country.

This initiative is designed to boost internet connectivity and security, with the PTA urging foreign missions to promptly register their VPNs to prevent any service disruptions.

The registration process, which is free and typically takes two to three days, requires verification from the internet service provider. However, users needing more than five IP addresses will face an additional IP whitelisting fee.

Additionally, servers located outside of Pakistan that provide services to local users must also be registered under this program.

The PTA’s initiative seeks to streamline internet usage while ensuring compliance with national regulations and protecting users from cybersecurity threats.
