Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the federal budget 2026-27 presented by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram dismissed the budget as anti-poor and pro-elite, stating it provides relief to the wealthy while placing additional burdens on ordinary citizens.

Sheikh Waqas Akram alleged that the government had manipulated figures in the 2026–27 budget, based on harassing honest taxpayers rather than implementing genuine economic reforms. He further stated that the government had already imposed every possible tax over the past three to four budgets and relied solely on statistical manipulation to present its fiscal performance.

According to Sheikh Waqas Akram, the budget punishes honest taxpayers while ignoring large-scale tax evasion. He described the budget as deceptive and anti-public, adding that PTI therefore rejects it.

Meanwhile, during the budget session of the National Assembly, PTI lawmakers staged a strong protest by surrounding the speaker’s dais and tearing up copies of budget documents. The party also boycotted the finance minister’s speech during the session.
