The Sindh government issued a directive last week to ensure safety during upcoming religious holidays. On Monday, the notification announced that all public and private educational institutions would be closed from March 12th as per Youm-i-Ali.

This directive was issued by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, with copies available for reference at Dawn newspaper. The notice stated: “All public and private educational institutions under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department, government of Sindh, will remain closed on March 12th, 2026, as a holiday due to Youm-i-Ali.”

Following these arrangements, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah of Sindh last week called upon prominent Shia scholars for their cooperation in securing religious celebrations. The meeting underscored the importance of ensuring security during significant Shia holidays like Youm-i-Ali and Youm Al Quds, which were also part of the discussion.

The participants at the gathering discussed administrative and security measures to be put in place, aiming to provide comprehensive protection against potential threats linked to recent events, including attacks on Iran. The discussions also focused on guiding the public based on emerging situations following these attacks.

This initiative from Sindh’s government reflects their commitment to maintaining a secure environment for both educational institutions and religious observances.
