Punjab Assembly Examines Air Ambulance Costs, Operations

Punjab Assembly reviews air ambulance service performance.

Member of Assembly Nadeem Qureshi questioned the efficiency of the Punjab government’s air ambulance service during a session at the Punjab Assembly. Officials responded that two air ambulances are operational in the province, acquired under rental agreements.

No expenditure was recorded for the fiscal year 2023-24, while Rs1.05 billion was spent on the service during the fiscal year 2025-26. The department informed that three medical officers, all BS-17 grade doctors, have been assigned to the air ambulance service since January 1, 2024.

A total of 254 critically ill patients were transported by these two aircraft so far. Overall expenditures on patient transfers reached Rs1.63 billion, with Rs58 million already spent in the ongoing fiscal year 2025-26. The air ambulance service is currently operating under Rescue 1122.
