Amidst heightened security concerns, the Punjab Home Department has issued a ban on meetings with prisoners and detainees at Adiala Jail, including visits by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan.

The department’s decision, announced on Tuesday, signifies a departure from the usual visitation procedures, with visitors now prohibited from meeting any inmates at the facility.

The move follows intelligence reports received by the Punjab Home Department, citing potential security threats associated with such meetings. These concerns have been further compounded by recent events, including the arrest of three suspected terrorists in close proximity to Adiala Jail.

During the operation, law enforcement authorities seized maps of the jail, along with hand grenades and detonators, raising alarm about potential security risks posed by external influences.

Earlier this month, a joint operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police thwarted an attempt targeting Adiala Jail, resulting in the arrest of three terrorists. The suspects, believed to be of Afghan origin, were found in possession of heavy weapons and ammunition, along with improvised explosive devices and maps of the jail.
