Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a portal for the “Apna Khet… Apna Rozgar” scheme, aimed at distributing agricultural land worth approximately Rs160 billion among landless rural residents. According to Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabeel Javed, 13,812 plots in various districts will benefit 88,780 families, while 16,685 plots in Cholistan will benefit 101,111 families.
Each successful applicant will receive agricultural land worth between Rs2.5 million and Rs4 million for cultivation, along with a one-time development grant ranging from Rs50,000 to Rs250,000 per acre. The application period is from May 2 to May 18, with appeals accepted until June 8. Final list issuance is scheduled for June 19, and land distribution will begin on June 30.
In case of multiple applicants for a single plot, allocation will be made through balloting. The land can only be used for agricultural purposes, and permanent construction will not be allowed. Each plot will be supervised by an agriculture officer and an agricultural internee, with biannual inspections conducted by a committee comprising Assistant Commissioners and Agriculture Department officials to review cultivation activities.
