Punjab CM Maryam Chairs Health Sector Review Meeting

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a review meeting in Lahore, focusing on health reforms across the province.

Health officials briefed her on ongoing initiatives. Under the Clinic on Wheels program, 18.2 million patients have been treated, along with 7 million ultrasound services and immunization for 1.2 million children.

Field hospitals saw 2.8 million patient visits, while laboratory tests reached 448,468, X-rays and ultrasounds totaled 170,772. Two-month insulin doses were provided to 2,242 diabetes patients at their homes.

Hepatitis and tuberculosis patients received two months of medication home-delivered. Phase One completed revamping of 1,026 Basic Health Units and 191 Rural Health Centers; Phase Two saw completion of 433 BHUs and 81 RHCs.

Phase Three is underway for construction and rehabilitation of 895 health centers. Community Health Inspectors registered 63 million people across Punjab and collected data from 8 million households and 10 million homes. GIS teams mapped 58,571 areas.

Cardiac care facilities in four district hospitals have seen 1,628 procedures, including 1,055 angiographies, 559 angioplasties, 12 primary PCIs, and two temporary pacemaker installations. Nawaz directed authorities to establish stroke management centers and increase nursing degree seats in public hospitals.
