Olympian athlete Faiza Riaz led the march past, drawing cheers from the packed stadium. As each team took its place on the field, they showcased regional traditions in a vibrant parade that underscored the festivities surrounding the event. Maryam Nawaz’s visit had a significant impact; she visited multiple pavilions herself to uplift the spirits of athletes.

Sports Minister Faisal Khokhar highlighted the ongoing commitment from his ministry towards promoting sports at the district level. He pointed out that female athletes have already received monthly stipends, emphasizing Punjab’s achievements in national competitions—winning 126 medals at the National Games and a commendable 173 at the Quaid-e-Azam Games.

Khokhar also announced plans for over 184 sports projects within a year, including the construction of synthetic astro-turf hockey stadiums in every district. This initiative is designed to elevate grassroots sports participation across Punjab by creating more accessible facilities and opportunities for young talent.

The Pink Games, which began this year under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, seek not only to empower women through sports but also to nurture young athletes who might otherwise be overlooked. By establishing a level playing field and encouraging visibility in the sporting arena, these games aim to transform female participation from an occasional hobby into a community-driven activity.
