Disney Channel stars Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez reunited on Monday for the 20th Anniversary Special of Hannah Montana, premiering on Hulu and Disney+. The duo was seen in Cyrus’ old closet, where Gomez donned her character Mikayla Skeech’s infamous red hat.
“You created a culture, babe,” Gomez stated. “You too”, replied Cyrus. Cyrus also shared details about her upcoming performance for “Life of the Party”, her first single as Hannah Montana.
Fans were surprised to see that the Disney Channel stars remained friends and praised their ability to grow together and support each other’s accomplishments.
Both Cyrus and Gomez dated musician Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers during their Disney days. Cyrus dated Jonas from 2006 to 2008, while Gomez was linked around 2008.
The teen love triangle created a messy high school drama. In an old video resurfaced of Gomez, she acknowledged the drama with Cyrus and said “We’re on an okay level, it’s cool”.
In 2019, Cyrus shared an old clip of her performance of Seven Things at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, where Gomez was seen singing alongside her.
Since then, both have been supportive of each other’s careers. Cyrus took to Instagram to thank her fellow cast members for being part of the reunion. “Thank you for growing up with us. We love you. This special is from me to younger you,” she said.
