Punjab Begins Local Production of Advanced HDPE Sewerage Pipes

Punjab has launched a significant initiative aimed at modernizing its urban infrastructure. The launch involves the production of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) lining pipes designed to last up to 100 years, replacing older systems with lifespans of just 25 years.

The project was made possible through technical collaboration between Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) and a World Bank team. Engineers from this team also undertook an exposure visit to the Singapore Water Centre, gaining international expertise that contributed to the project’s development.

Chairman PMDFC Imad Iftikhar Malik played a key role in advancing the initiative following his visit to China. He oversaw the transfer of modern manufacturing techniques to Pakistan under Chinese engineers’ supervision.

NSA Polymer Group Chairman Mian Sohail Nisar and CEO Mian Saad Sohail have announced plans to establish additional factories, ensuring a steady supply of modern pipes at lower costs for sewerage schemes throughout Punjab.
