Punjab Launches ‘She Threads’ for Rural Women Empowerment

Punjab Allocates Rs310m For ‘She Threads’ Initiative

The Punjab government has allocated Rs310 million for “She Threads,” an initiative aimed at boosting economic empowerment of rural women through vocational training in textiles.

Open to women aged 18-45 from across the province with middle-level education, participants receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 during their training period.

Textile courses offered include industrial stitching machine operation, fabric quality inspection, pattern making and cutting, among others, designed to improve employability and create job opportunities.

Over two years, around 2,500 women have completed the program with 773 securing immediate employment post-graduation. Currently, 1,150 women are undergoing training while an additional 1,350 are expected next year.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering financially independent and skilled women, highlighting their significant contribution as a national asset in the textile industry.
