Punjab Government Plans Rs 5 Billion for Safe City Expansion
The Punjab government has announced plans to invest Rs 5 billion in a new phase of its Safe City initiative. This expansion aims to install cameras in all 7,000 union councils throughout the province.
Working papers outlining the installation process have been prepared and submitted to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for approval. The project is expected to cost around Rs 5 billion.
Under this plan, a robust monitoring system will be established at the union council level, utilizing modern technology to oversee every street and locality. Officials say that the primary goals of this expansion are to reduce street crime and enhance public safety across Punjab.
