Punjab Poultry Traders Association Calls for Strike

The Punjab Poultry Traders Association has announced a complete shutdown strike from 5:00 pm today, citing ongoing supply disputes amidst rising inflation in the country.

With day-to-day goods becoming increasingly scarce due to inflation, the issue of broiler supply remains unresolved. Despite official rate list adjustments, vendors have refrained from accepting supply, citing discrepancies between the fixed rates and the actual supply of live broilers.

Shopkeepers have refused supply due to the low prices set in the official rate list, resulting in the closure of many broiler shops in various areas of the city.

President of the Punjab Poultry Association, Tariq Javed, emphasized that vendors cannot afford to bear losses and urged the government to improve supply conditions or adjust the rate list accordingly.

Official rate list indicates a supply price of Rs463 per kg for live broiler, while market rates show a supply price of Rs495 per kg, reflecting a Rs32 increase.
