Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is set to accelerate reforms in the province’s livestock sector with plans to export up to one million animals. Under this new initiative, agreements have been signed with seven institutions to expand meat exports.

A collaboration between a Chinese firm and provincial authorities will establish a boiler unit for large-scale meat processing. The first phase of the plan aims to fatten 300,000 animals and export at least 100,000, while also importing meat from around 300,000 animals through private companies.

Livestock farms are expected to create income opportunities, particularly in rural areas, as part of broader reforms that include establishing modern veterinary hospitals in every tehsil. Mobile dispensary services will be provided in remote villages.
