The Punjab Land Record Authority and Board of Revenue have finalized preparations for the launch of the “Green Property Certificate” system at the Rawalpindi Land Record Centre next week. This move marks a significant shift in the 485-year-old manual property registration system, which was introduced back in 1540.
Starting from July 1, 2026, the new fiscal year will see the prohibition of sales and purchases of residential, commercial, and agricultural land without the Green Property Certificate. The existing “Fard” system will be discontinued as part of this transition.
According to authorities, citizens will have the ability to obtain the certificate using their current documents from next week onwards.
