Rachael Leigh Cook has expressed her delight at Josie and the Pussycats returning to find a new audience after 25 years.
Leaving PEOPLE magazine, she revealed that people showered immense love when the movie first came out in 2001. She stated, “People are rediscovering that movie after it being considered an absolute box-office flop and only getting its flowers as it were in the last couple of years, maybe the last decade or so.”
Cook’s sentiment is one of gratitude and hope for other deserving films to find their audience too. The film’s resurgence reaffirms her belief that starting small can “pay off over time.”
