Rain, Snow Predicted in North; Smog Lingers Over Punjab

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted light rain across various regions and snowfall in the upper mountainous areas, with dry and cool conditions prevailing in most parts of the country. Gilgit-Baltistan and parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may see rain today, while other areas will have cool nights under clear skies.

On Monday, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Murree and Galiyat, are likely to experience cloudy skies with rain and light snowfall in higher elevations. Parts of the Pothohar region and northeastern Punjab might see partly cloudy skies, along with the potential for rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms.

Chilly temperatures have already been recorded, with Skardu and Gupis nearing freezing. Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Shangla could see rain with thunderstorms, and snowfall at higher altitudes.

Punjab remains on alert for smog, especially with dense fog expected to settle overnight.

Karachi could also experience fog on Monday and Tuesday, potentially impacting visibility. Cooler sea breezes are expected to sweep through the city, while temperatures in Karachi are forecast to stay between 21°C at night and a warm 33-35°C during the day.

Most of Balochistan and Sindh are expected to remain dry with cool conditions in mountainous regions, while parts of Punjab continue to be impacted by smog and fog, affecting air quality and visibility.
