Earlier reports had suggested that Ramazan would commence on February 19th, with Eidul Fitr expected to fall on March 21st. However, recent forecasts indicate a possible shift forward by one day due to potential sightings of the new moon.

The PMD’s Climate Data Processing Centre stated that, according to astronomical data, there is now a strong likelihood of sighting the Ramazan 1447 AH crescent on February 18th, aligning with the 29th of Shaban. The department emphasizes that weather conditions across most parts of Pakistan are forecasted to remain clear or partly cloudy on February 18th, providing optimal visibility for potential sightings.

Detailed timings for moon sighting in various regions include:
– Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 6:58pm
– Balochistan: 7:47pm
– Sindh: 7:24pm
– Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 7:13pm
– Punjab: 7:08pm
– Gilgit-Baltistan: 6:53pm

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which makes the official announcement regarding the start of Islamic months, will conduct a final verification based on moon sighting testimonies. Despite earlier predictions for February 19th, Secretary General Khalid Ijaz Mufti of the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council underlines that these are not yet definitive and underscores the committee’s authority in making official announcements.
