Rawalpindi: ATC Reissues Warrants for Aleema Khan Amidst Controversy

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has reissued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, ordering her immediate arrest and appearance before the court by Friday, February 13. The case was heard by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who directed authorities to execute the warrant.

Nonetheless, a day prior, Aleema Khan had submitted that she did not participate in the protest held on February 8. She clarified that during that rally, they stayed at home and instead engaged in kite flying activities. The kites were marked with “Qaidi No. 804,” which corresponds to Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Aleema Khan stated her protest on February 8 was a success but claimed that various news reports were being circulated to shift focus elsewhere. She further asserted that she and her children had flown kites with “Qaidi No. 804” at home, rather than participating in the rally.

She also indicated that Barrister Salman Safdar met Imran Khan for two hours, implying a possible meeting between them. Aleema Khan expressed intent to approach the Supreme Court and inquire about this news regarding her leader’s activities.

Despite these disclosures, Aleema Khan remains under investigation for her alleged involvement in an unauthorized protest. Her continued detention and court appearance underscore the gravity of the situation surrounding this case.
