Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan orders re-polling
The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan (EGB) has ordered a re-poll at the Loshi Thak women’s polling station in constituency GBA-15 following unrest during the recent elections.
Polling was disrupted by stone-pelting, gunfire and deteriorating law-and-order situation, preventing many registered voters from casting their ballots.
Despite around 200 votes being cast, a large number of voters were unable to exercise their right to vote. Polling staff were later evacuated under security protection.
Re-polling at the Loshi Thak women’s polling station will be held on June 15, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., without any break.
The Returning Officer for GBA-15 will personally supervise the arrangements.
Official results have been announced for 22 constituencies in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections. The Pakistan Peoples Party emerged as the largest party with 10 seats, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz secured four seats. Independent candidates won seven seats and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen captured one seat. Results for GBA-13 and GBA-14 in Astore remain withheld.
