Despite pleading not guilty to the most serious charges of rape and domestic violence, Hoiby admitted some lesser crimes, including speeding, during his brief statement.
During his testimony on Tuesday, Hoiby broke down when discussing his difficult upbringing surrounded by the media from a young age. He cited a need for affirmation and noted past indulgence in parties, alcohol, and possibly drugs. When asked about videos on his phone that were initially suspected of showing rape acts, he vehemently denied that they depicted such incidents, stating that he had never shared them with anyone.
