US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Tuesday that a deal with Iran remains possible despite recent American strikes which have cast doubt on their fragile ceasefire.
“The talks are ongoing in Qatar,” Rubio told reporters in Jaipur during his visit to India. “We’ll see if we can make progress, but it’s going to take a few days.”
The president has expressed his desire for a deal, according to Rubio, who emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open.
“The straits have to be open,” he said. “What’s happening there is unlawful, illegal, unsustainable for the world, and unacceptable.”
