Rubio: US Can Achieve Iran Objectives Without Ground Troops, Toll System Possible in Strait of Hormuz

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Friday that the US could achieve its objectives in Iran without ground troops, with operations expected to conclude within weeks. This was announced after discussions with G7 foreign ministers in France regarding the recent US-Israel conflict launched last month.

Rubio emphasized that the US is making progress towards its goals – including dismantling Iran’s missile and drone capabilities, naval forces, and air force – and expects completion of these objectives within weeks rather than months. He also noted that additional troop deployments to the region were intended to provide President Trump with options for contingencies but did not elaborate on operational details.

Rubio further suggested that Iran might establish a tolling system for the Strait of Hormuz, urging European and Asian countries benefiting from trade through this waterway to contribute to efforts ensuring free passage post-conflict.
