Shawwal Moon Sighted: Pakistan Announces Eid Ul Fitr On April 10

After a prolonged delay, the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee officially confirms the sighting of the Shawwal crescent in Pakistan, announcing the celebration of Eid Ul Fitr on April 10, Wednesday.

Approximately 60 sightings in Peshawar were validated for the Shawwal crescent and relayed to the central committee. However, Quetta’s ruet committee reported no sightings, deferring the decision to the central committee.

Initially, Faisalabad’s ruet committee announced Shawwal Moon sightings and shared the information with the central committee.

Despite delays and discussions, Karachi’s reported sightings were initially overlooked by the central committee, prompting criticism for prolonging the decision-making process.

The announcement for such events and sightings announcement must be swift from the central committee rather than unnecessarily prolonging the matter despite the confirmed sightings. The scientific methods should also be taken into account as the 21st century’s technology is more than capable of accurately determining the location of the crescent.
