The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed authorities to conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 again within four weeks. This decision follows earlier court orders suspending the MDCAT results and halting the processing of admissions based on those results.

A two-member bench, consisting of Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, announced the decision, instructing relevant authorities to organize the retest promptly. The court also noted that a detailed judgment regarding the case would be issued later. Meanwhile, the Sindh government has been asked to consult with stakeholders to devise a strategy if the retest proceeds.

During the hearing, Shireen Narejo, the committee chairperson, presented a report that pointed to substantial flaws in Dow University’s exam procedures. The court was informed that exam papers and answers had circulated on WhatsApp, raising concerns over the integrity of the exam.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the examination committee’s handling of the situation, the court questioned the efforts made to prevent these issues. Justice Salahuddin highlighted the potential involvement of powerful individuals in undermining the process.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s (PMDC) counsel also confirmed an ongoing inquiry into the alleged paper leak and external influences. The bench was hearing petitions from candidates who had asked the court to declare the September 22 MDCAT exam “null and void” and to order a fresh test.
